Why people actually buy our saunas: the long game.

Regular sauna use is one of the most-studied longevity habits in the world. Researchers followed 2,315 middle-aged men for 20 years and found that those who used a sauna 4–7 times a week had 40% lower all-cause mortality and 50% lower fatal cardiovascular disease than once-a-week users (Laukkanen et al., JAMA Internal Medicine, 2015); a follow-up reported a 65% lower rate of Alzheimer’s disease (Age and Ageing, 2017). The benefit tracked with frequency — which is the entire argument for owning a sauna instead of booking one. The El Capitan is built to make that frequency effortless: a four-person outdoor cabin built to run year-round.

El Capitan — The 4-person outdoor flagship.

The El Capitan is our outdoor flagship — a weatherproof four-person cabin with thirteen heating panels, two medical-grade red-light panels, full-spectrum infrared, and a true 170°F. The most complete sauna we build.

Included free with every El Capitan

  • Lifetime Peak Wellness Club membership — $588/yr value. Guided daily sessions, 30-day programs, an expert research library, and session tracking — free for life.
  • Free delivery, shipped in a custom protective crate.
  • Limited lifetime warranty + lifetime U.S.-based support.
  • $3,598 value — two medical-grade red-light panels, included standard.
  • Peak Welcome Box to start your practice from day one.

Medical-grade red light, where it works. Two medical-grade red-light panels across the front wall — not a decorative strip — positioned for full-body coverage while seated, and designed to support skin, circulation, and recovery.

360° full-spectrum infrared heat. A hybrid of carbon FAR panels plus halogen + quartz emitters delivers near, mid, and far wavelengths (700–25,000nm) for even, full-body warmth — built to support deep relaxation and recovery.

A true 170°F. Reaches a true 170°F — well beyond the 140°F ceiling of most infrared saunas — for a deeper, more satisfying sweat.

Run it from your phone. Preheat from anywhere; adjust temperature, lighting, and session length in the Peak Saunas app (iOS & Android).

An atmosphere for the ritual. Two HiFi Bluetooth speakers, dual-level LED accent lighting, built-in chromotherapy, and a smart oxygen-ionization system that freshens the air during and after each session — plus a foot-reflexology heater for head-to-toe warmth.

Built to last. Our outdoor saunas are built with space-grade aluminum—the same high-strength, lightweight material used in aerospace applications—chosen for its exceptional durability and resistance to rust, corrosion, and extreme weather. Each panel is finished with an electroplated baked varnish coating, a multi-stage process that electrochemically bonds protective layers to the metal before sealing it with a high-temperature baked finish. This creates a sleek, UV-resistant, weatherproof exterior that won't warp, fade, or deteriorate over time, ensuring your sauna maintains its modern look and structural integrity for years to come.

Order your El Capitan today — and start the habit the research keeps pointing to.

What the research actually shows

Regular sauna bathing is one of the most-studied longevity habits in the world. The strongest evidence comes from a 20-year Finnish cohort study that followed 2,315 middle-aged men and compared those who bathed 4–7 times a week against once-a-week users.

  • Longevity. 40% lower all-cause mortality among the most frequent users (Laukkanen et al., JAMA Internal Medicine, 2015).
  • Cardiovascular. 50% lower fatal cardiovascular disease in the same group (same study); a later analysis also linked frequent sauna use to lower incidence of hypertension (American Journal of Hypertension, 2017).
  • Brain health. 65% lower rate of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia among the most frequent users (Age and Ageing, 2017).
  • Recovery and relaxation. Heat exposure raises circulation and is widely used for post-exercise recovery, muscle relaxation, and winding down at the end of a day.

Two things worth knowing about this research. It studied sauna bathing generally — largely traditional Finnish saunas — so it is evidence about the habit, not about any one brand. And the benefits tracked with frequency: 4–7 sessions a week, not the occasional visit. Consistency at that level is difficult to buy by the session, which is the practical case for owning one.

Peak saunas are wellness products, not medical devices, and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

How long is the power cord and where does it come out of the unit? Plus

The cord is approximately 9 feet long. Where it comes out of the unit specifically will depend on the model of choice. Please consult our sales team for specifics!

What is chromotherapy and what does it do? Plus

Chromotherapy, also known as color therapy, is a form of alternative therapy that uses colors to improve physical and mental well-being. The idea behind chromotherapy is that different colors have specific wavelengths and energy frequencies, which can influence a person’s mood, emotions, and even health when absorbed by the body. Each color is believed to have unique healing properties.

  • Red: Stimulates energy, vitality, and circulation.
  • Orange: Promotes creativity, enthusiasm, and emotional balance.
  • Yellow: Boosts mood, self-confidence, and concentration.
  • Green: Known for its calming and balancing effects, aiding in relaxation and stress relief.
  • Blue: Soothes anxiety, promotes calm, and helps with sleep disorders.
  • Indigo: Encourages deeper levels of relaxation and introspection.
  • Violet: Supports mental clarity and spiritual awareness.
What is red light therapy and what is it good for? Plus

Red light therapy uses low wavelengths of red or near-infrared light to penetrate the skin and stimulate cellular repair, boost collagen production, and reduce inflammation. It’s commonly used for improving skin health (anti-aging, wrinkles), speeding up muscle recovery, relieving pain, and enhancing circulation. It’s also beneficial for wound healing, hair growth, and even improving sleep and mood by supporting cellular energy production and reducing stress on the body.

What is the difference between medical-grade and non-medical grade red light therapy? Plus

When it comes to red light therapy, not all saunas are created equal. Many competitors advertise “red light therapy” but use non-medical grade lights that offer little to no real health benefits—often serving more as decorative lighting than functional therapy.

With Peak Saunas, you’re getting true medical-grade red light therapy—the same standard used in clinical treatments for pain relief, skin health, and inflammation reduction.

When you invest in a sauna for your health, don’t settle for decorative red lights that don’t work. Choose Peak Saunas with medical-grade red light therapy for clinically backed results—so you can recover faster, feel stronger, and truly optimize your wellness.

Can you assemble my sauna for me? Plus

If you prefer not to assemble it yourself, we recommend hiring a local handyman. Thanks to the simplicity of our sauna kits, any handyman team can easily complete the setup with no prior experience required.

How often should I use my sauna? Plus

The research points to frequency. In the 20-year Finnish cohort study, the people who saw the largest differences used a sauna 4–7 times a week; those benefits shrank at 2–3 times and largely disappeared at once a week (Laukkanen et al., JAMA Internal Medicine, 2015). Most Peak owners settle into a 20–40 minute session most days. That cadence is the entire reason owning a sauna beats booking one — it removes the drive, the schedule, and the per-session cost that quietly cap how often you actually go.

Is there real research behind sauna use, or is it just marketing? Plus

There is a genuine body of peer-reviewed research, and it is worth being precise about what it says. The most-cited work followed 2,315 middle-aged Finnish men for two decades and found that frequent sauna bathers (4–7x/week) had 40% lower all-cause mortality and 50% lower fatal cardiovascular disease than once-a-week bathers (JAMA Internal Medicine, 2015), with a follow-up reporting a 65% lower rate of Alzheimer’s and dementia (Age and Ageing, 2017). Those studies looked at sauna bathing as a habit — mostly traditional Finnish saunas — not at any particular brand or at infrared specifically. We think the honest version is more useful than the hyped one: the habit is well studied, and our job is to make the habit easy to keep.

How long until I feel a difference? Plus

Most people notice the short-term effects — deep relaxation, looser muscles, easier sleep that night — within the first few sessions. The longevity research above is about something different: a habit sustained over years, measured across decades. Both matter, and they are not the same claim. Start with sessions you enjoy enough to repeat, and the frequency takes care of itself.
