The High Blood Pressure FIX That Doesn’t Require a Treadmill
By Jefferson Turney
A heat-based habit researchers have linked to healthier blood pressure and cardiovascular outcomes—especially for people who can’t (or won’t) live on cardio equipment.

Important: This article is educational and not medical advice. If you have high blood pressure (especially if it’s uncontrolled) or you take blood pressure medication, talk with your clinician before starting sauna sessions - heat can change blood pressure responses.
Over 10,000 Peak Saunas Sold Nationwide
The part nobody tells you about “lowering blood pressure”
Most people don’t fail because they don’t care.
They fail because the plan they were given assumes they have:
pain-free knees
unlimited time
perfect sleep
high motivation… forever
So you get the standard lecture:
“Walk more. Run more. Eat perfectly. Lose 20 pounds. Meditate. Repeat for the next 30 years.”
And if you’re 52, 61, 68… working, traveling, dealing with a back that tightens up when you sit too long, the treadmill starts to feel less like a solution and more like a guilt machine.
But there’s a different angle researchers have been studying for decades:
Passive heat exposure.
Not as a “spa thing.”
As a physiological stimulus that appears to nudge the cardiovascular system in the same direction as moderate activity, without the joint impact.
👉 See How I Saved $3,500+
1,621 men. 22 years. About half the risk.
In 2017, researchers tracked 1,621 middle-aged Finnish men and looked at who developed hypertension over time.
The standout finding:
Men who used a sauna 4–7 times per week had about half the risk of developing hypertension compared with once-weekly users (hazard ratio around 0.53).
That doesn’t prove sauna causes lower blood pressure (it’s an observational study), but it’s a strong signal—especially because the analysis adjusted for many common risk factors.
And it matches a larger pattern that shows up repeatedly in Finnish data:
More sauna frequency → better cardiovascular outcomes.
I started to understand why traditional sauna lovers dismiss infrared saunas as "not real saunas." Because most of them simply aren't hot enough to trigger the physiological benefits that make saunas therapeutic.
The budget Amazon units were even worse, barely reaching 120°F and emitting chemical smells that gave people headaches.
One review mentioned needing to air out their garage for days because of the toxic fumes.
I was about to give up…
Why heat matters (in plain English)
Here’s what heat does during a session:
Blood vessels open up (vasodilation) to move heat out through the skin
Heart rate rises to support that increased circulation
Sweating increases, shifting fluid balance
Many people feel a downshift in stress afterward (which matters because chronic stress and poor sleep often show up alongside rising blood pressure)
In the JAMA Internal Medicine study on sauna and mortality, the authors even note that heart rate during sauna can reach ranges comparable to low-to-moderate intensity exercise for many people.
So no—sauna is not a replacement for strength training or movement.
But if your goal is cardiovascular support and you’re struggling to “out-cardio” aging joints and modern life…
Heat starts to look like a practical tool.
The real question isn’t “does sauna help?”
The real question is:
How do you make it realistic enough to do often?
Because every positive sauna dataset has the same theme:
Frequency matters.
A gym sauna you use “when you remember” is a nice ritual.
It is not a protocol.
And for the people who need this most - busy professionals, older adults, anyone with joint pain - friction is the enemy.
drive time
locker rooms
inconsistent access
crowded facilities
“I’ll do it next week”
That’s why the conversation keeps shifting toward home.
Not because it’s luxurious.
Because it’s repeatable.
Why most home saunas still don’t solve the problem
Once someone decides “I should get a sauna at home,” they usually run into one of two paths:
Path 1: Traditional high-heat saunas (powerful, but punishing)
Finnish-style saunas run hot — often 80–100°C (176–212°F) — and many people tap out quickly. Install can also be a project depending on what you choose.
Path 2: Cheap infrared (comfortable, but underwhelming)
Infrared solved the “punishing heat” problem for a lot of people. Lower air temps, more tolerable sessions.
But low-end infrared units often create a new problem:
uneven heat, weak output, and unclear specs — the kind of experience that makes people stop using it after the honeymoon period.
If you’re buying a sauna to support something as important as cardiovascular health, the goal isn’t “owning a sauna.”
The goal is using it 4–7x/week for years.
Which means the sauna has to be:
comfortable enough to stick with
powerful enough to feel like something is happening
simple enough that you don’t avoid it
built well enough that you trust it long-term
But it wasn't just the smart features that impressed me. I noticed I was handling work pressure better and staying calm when things got chaotic.
4. My Doctor Couldn't Believe My Heart Health
At my annual checkup, my doctor actually did a double-take at my results. "Whatever you're doing, keep doing it," she said. My blood pressure and heart rate had improved more in 6 months than in the previous 5 years combined.
Turns out there's real science behind this. A clinical study with heart failure patients showed that just 15-minute infrared sauna sessions significantly improved cardiovascular function, with one group seeing dramatic reductions in heart irregularities (Beever, 2009).¹
5. I Started Looking Noticeably Younger
The medical-grade red light therapy was working in ways I could actually see. My skin became tighter, fine lines around my eyes started disappearing, and my complexion improved dramatically.
My wife was the first to notice the change. "Your skin looks amazing!" I started getting similar comments from friends and colleagues.
What we built at Peak (and why)
Peak Saunas is not a reseller and not a marketplace.
We’re a dedicated premium infrared sauna brand built around one idea:
You shouldn’t have to pay luxury markups to get luxury-grade performance.
But the bigger point—especially for blood pressure—is this:
We design for adherence.
Not just “features.”
Because the best health tool is the one you’ll use when you’re tired, busy, sore, and not feeling motivated.
That’s why Peak models are built around:
Full-spectrum infrared (near + mid + far) with clearly stated ranges (commonly cited around 700–25,000nm)
Consistent 360° heater placement (so sessions feel even, not patchy)
Smart WiFi / app control (preheat from your phone; remove friction)
Low-EMF design and shielding (because your “health purchase” shouldn’t trigger new anxieties)
Crate-protected freight delivery (because shipping damage is an unspoken nightmare in this category)
The “blood pressure buyer” checklist (steal this)
If you’re buying a sauna with cardiovascular goals in mind, here are the questions that matter more than marketing terms:
1) Will I realistically use this 4~7 times per week?
Because frequency is where the strongest associations show up.
2) Is the heat consistent enough that sessions are tolerable?
Uneven heat is the silent adherence killer.
3) Is the control simple enough for daily life?
Remote preheat sounds like a convenience feature until it’s Tuesday at 6:10pm and you’re choosing between “one more errand” and “a session.”
4) Do they publish real specs?
If a brand hides details, it usually means the details don’t help them.
5) Is delivery and setup painless enough that I won’t procrastinate?
A sauna you “plan to set up” is not lowering anyone’s blood pressure.
“But I don’t want to replace exercise…”
Good. You shouldn’t.
Strength training and movement still matter.
Here’s what’s interesting, though:
In at least one randomized crossover comparison, infrared sauna and moderate exercise produced similar short-term responses in blood pressure and some vascular measures, even though exercise obviously provides muscular training that sauna cannot.
That’s why the smartest frame isn’t “sauna instead of exercise.”
It’s:
Sauna as the “bridge” when exercise dose is limited.
The tool that helps you stay consistent when your body (or schedule) won’t cooperate.
Why Peak includes red light by default (and why that matters for stickiness)
This might sound like a tangent, but it matters more than people think.
When someone buys a sauna primarily for “health,” the second question is always:
“Will I actually use it?”
Red light therapy doesn’t just add benefits, it adds reasons to show up.
Peak models commonly include an XL medical-grade red light panel with multiple clinically referenced wavelengths (8 wavelengths, ~630–1060nm depending on model).
Competitors frequently charge extra for comparable red light configurations. Peak includes it as standard - because it’s part of building a daily-use system, not an accessory upsell.
The price question (because it’s always the question)
Saunas are a serious purchase, typically in the high-ticket range.
But if you think like a cautious buyer, the correct comparison isn’t:
“Is this expensive?”
It’s:
“What does this replace — and will I use it often enough to be worth it?”
Here at Peak we follow a simple way to think about value: a quality sauna used consistently over decades becomes a very low cost per day or per session.
And unlike many brands, Peak stacks the things that usually cost extra:
medical-grade red light
app control
air features (model-dependent)
premium shipping protection
If you’re considering Peak, here’s the easiest next step
You have two good options:
Option A: Take the 2-minute quiz
Get a recommendation based on space, goals, and usage patterns (especially helpful if you’re buying primarily for health consistency).
Option B: Compare the lineup directly
If you already know your size and want to see specs (wavelength range, heating layout, electrical needs, etc.), go straight to the collection and compare.

Final note
If you’re looking for a “hack,” this isn’t it.
If you’re looking for a repeatable, joint-friendly cardiovascular habit, something you can do when you’re tired and still get a “dose”
That's what Saunas were built for.
And that’s what Peak is designed to make practical.

The customer support was the best that I have ever experienced. The sauna heats up quick and the lighting and Bluetooth systems are a very nice feature.

I received my sauna and I am ABSOLUTELY loving it! Even my husband is enjoying the benefits of using it. It was packaged very well when it arrived. It was pretty easy to put together.
If you are on the fence like I was for many months don't wait, get one asap you won't regret it! I have more energy and just overall feel better. What sealed the deal for me was the company’s lifetime warranty on the sauna.

Can anyone vouch for this sauna? Thinking about ordering but wanna be sure it’s worth it.

Honestly, I thought I’d have to live with back pain and low energy forever. But Peak Saunas changed everything. I’m sleeping better, my pain’s gone, and I finally feel like myself again. It’s been a total game-changer for my health and routine!
Mike T.
I bought mine at full price and now they’re offering over $3,500 off plus bonuses? Seriously!?

Skyler Graig
Anyone know how long shipping usually takes?

Mine got here in just under a week! Delivered in a super sturdy wooden crate too. Honestly, it was all way smoother than I expected.

Ugh, being a mom is just exhausting. I was feeling it HARD—sluggish, achy, and like my body was running on empty. A friend mentioned infrared saunas helping with recovery and energy, so I did some digging. I ended up getting a Peak Sauna. Honestly? I'm shocked at the difference. I’ve got more energy, my joints feel way better, and I actually look forward to that quiet time every evening. If you're a mom feeling the burnout, this might be the best thing you do for yourself.

No second thoughts, just grab one. Totally worth it.

Wow looks amazing, has anyone actually tried it?
John M.
Yeah, I’ve had mine a few weeks. My knees used to ache constantly and I was always drained. The red light therapy and heat combo is unreal—less pain, more energy, and just a better vibe overall.

Mark Bradley
I want one so bad, I'm gonna buy it this weekend when my paycheck hits!!

Anyone know how quick the delivery is? Want to surprise my sister with one.

Mine showed up in just a couple days, super fast.

Your sister will be happy! Perfect gift
Alex Prescot
Okay, so I was feeling completely drained. Tired, achy knees, just worn out by the end of the day. Then I heard about the Peak Saunas Everest with its full-spectrum infrared heat and red light therapy. Decided to give it a shot. Honestly? After a few weeks, I’m actually feeling energized and way more comfortable. If you’re feeling run down like I was, this might be exactly what you need. 🙌

I don’t like taking pills, but I couldn’t ignore how off I felt anymore. Saw someone post about Peak and figured, why not? It’s only been a few weeks but I feel lighter, more alive. Just better overall.

I’ve actually been using mine right after workouts, and it’s made a huge difference. My recovery time is way faster, and I’m not as sore the next day. Honestly didn’t expect it to help this much.
Michael Orson
Totally get that! I’ve been using it post-run too and it’s become part of my routine. Muscles feel looser, and I sleep better on those days. It’s like active recovery without the ice packs 😂
David Mayson
Just got my Peak Saunas Everest delivered. Wasn’t sure what to expect, but wow — I felt a difference almost immediately! Can’t wait to see how I feel after a few weeks. Definitely feeling more like myself already!
